Once upon a time there was an old man and an old woman who had a hen. The hen was their pet and she was named Specky. Now it seems once Specky laid an egg but this was not a normal egg. It was a golden egg. The old man took the egg and tried to break it. He tried again and again but nothing happened. Then his wife took the egg and she tried to break it again and again, but still nothing happened. Suddenly a mouse ran by the egg, hitting it with its tail. The egg fell down and crashed into pieces. The old man cried, the old wife cried. But Specky began to comfort them: "Don't cry my darlings. I shall lay a new egg for you, but it will only be a good egg, a normal egg, not a golden one!" The end to my tale.
